Go Camping This August Bank Holiday Weekend

As the August bank holiday fast approaches, we are encouraging you to make the most of it and head over to one of the many amazing campsites across Norfolk.

In order to enjoy the break to its full potential, you’re going to need a few essentials. Here’s what we recommend:

For protection against the elements whilst you sleep under the stars, you will need a tent (as obvious as that may seem). It’s important that you get the correct size tent, it can get cramped, especially if you don’t factor in the space your camping equipment and personal belongings will consume. We suggest that you go 1 or 2 berths above what you need, otherwise you could find yourselves cramped!

Sleeping Bag

Choosing the right sleeping bag is critical. It can mean the difference between a good and bad night’s sleep. Think ahead, look at the weather forecast and assess the overnight temperatures for your stay. The British summer can be very unpredictable, and may be cold and wet during the night. A good sleeping bag will capture your body’s warmth, offer protection from chill winds, precipitation and create a cushioning effect for maximum comfort.

Cooking Facilities

If there’s one thing we all like to enjoy on a bank holiday, its food! We have several cooking accessories that will prevent you from going hungry such as compact gas stoves and grills, along with camping cookware such as plates, bowls and cutlery.

Without some form of lighting, getting around

your pitch could be disorientating, not to mention a little spooky in the middle of the night. Our stores stock a range of torches and headlamps to help you see yourself around safely.

Camping Furniture

If you don’t feel like sitting on the ground, we don’t blame you! With our camping chairs you can comfortably enjoy your mealtimes and take in your surroundings without completely roughing it.

Many campsites now welcome four-legged campers. So, we also have an essentials camping checklist for your dog(s) too:

Travel Food & Water Bowls

Despite being away from home, your dog will still know when it’s feeding time.

We sell folding and collapsible bowls that are ideal for adventures, these bowls are travel sized and designed with soft and flexible materials that allow the bowl to be compactly packed; perfect where space is limited on smaller pitches.

Dog Beds & Blankets

Your canine camper deserves warmth and comfort as much as you do. Ensure your pooch has a goodnight’s sleep with our high-quality portable/travel dog beds and cozy blankets.

Leads & Harnesses

It’s important for owners to be aware of the rules for each individual campsite, as different rules may apply. There are often strict regulations on free-roaming dogs but don’t let this get in the way of their camping adventure.

Across our Norfolk stores, we have a variety of leads and harnesses of different lengths to enable your dog to roam without breaking the rules; ensuring safety for your dog(s) and others on the campsite at which you are staying.

With these camping must-haves you are guaranteed a great outdoor adventure. We wish you the best bank holiday break and if you would like to know more, our team is full of top camping tips. Find your local store here and give us a call!
